GRIT magazine
founder / creative director
Utilizing a diverse set of perspectives and mediums, GRIT magazine focuses on beautifying the diversity of cultures and experiences that flow alongside subcultural-focused ideas and concepts. Each issue focuses on a different textile and its importance and representation towards different communities and their history. We dive into how the textile represents more than just clothing; it is a showcase of a community's history, its oppression, and its rebellion throughout both historical and current societal bounds.
We emphasize addressing subversive, taboo subjects, paying homage to each community's euphoria and struggles, and taking inspiration from the rebelliousness and persistence seen throughout each group's history. Their GRIT and determination have allowed us to emerge stronger, shaping the culture we use and letting us find our own.
Our debut ISSUE:001 will be focused on the textile LEATHER and its relation to the queer community.
